How To Plan Black Box Routes Without Spoiling Everything

Use spoiler-conscious route planning for Subnautica 2 black boxes by checking only the target, depth, nearby biome, and return path.

Black box routes are useful, but they can also reveal more of the world than you meant to see. A better approach is to check only the information needed for the current recovery target.

Check One Target At A Time

Avoid browsing every recovery marker at once. Open the guide or map for the black box you are actively pursuing, confirm the route risk, then return to exploration.

Use Depth As The First Filter

Depth tells you whether the route fits your current oxygen, vehicle, and tools. If a route crosses a deeper biome than your build can handle, save it for later instead of forcing the swim.

Pair The Route With Resources

A black box run is easier when it also passes useful materials. Before leaving base, compare the recovery path with nearby resource markers so the trip has a practical payoff even if you decide to turn back.

Recheck After Updates

Early Access updates can change route details, nearby hazards, and biome layouts. Recheck the live map after major patches so an old recovery plan does not waste a full dive.
