Resource Routes to Check Before Your First Deep Dive
Plan safer Subnautica 2 resource runs by checking materials, depth, tools, oxygen, landmarks, and return routes before leaving base.
Your first deep route in Subnautica 2 should start with a map check, not with a blind swim. Resources are useful only if you can reach them, carry them home, and avoid spending the entire dive correcting a bad route.
Start With The Crafting Need
Pick the item or upgrade you want before opening every marker. A focused route keeps the map useful and reduces spoilers.
- Basic building materials for storage, power, and repair
- Upgrade materials for oxygen, scanning, or movement
- Plant resources if the recipe depends on harvestable samples
- Rare nodes only after you know the depth and nearby hazards
Compare Depth And Tools
A marker that looks close can still be a bad target if it sits below your safe range. Before you leave base, check whether the resource needs a scanner, cutter, vehicle, or other tool you do not have yet.
Build A Return Route
The best resource run has a clean exit. Use landmarks, nearby biomes, and a return path before you start collecting. If you are exploring a new area, leave enough oxygen and storage space for the way back instead of filling every slot on the first pass.
Open The Map When Details Change
Subnautica 2 is still changing during Early Access. Major updates can move resources, adjust biomes, and change route safety. Treat old notes as planning hints, then verify the current map before a long dive.
